I just got the newly published The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on my Nook. I preordered it and have been waiting waiting waiting for the re-release of this book.
They've made this book into a movie just released in the UK to raves I believe.
I watched the trailer weeks ago and thought it looked great but I am trying to avoid it now so I can enjoy the book on its own merits. So far none of the characters is screaming 'I'm Judy Dench, I'm Judy Dench' so I'm okay for now.
The book was initially released years ago. Do you know the original title of this book and what do you think about its new title? Why do you think they changed it?
A Blog About Movies Based on Books. Because I love books and I love movies. But a movie based on a book? That's pure heaven. And sometimes hell.

I love, love, LOVE that you're leaving a comment! Thanks for taking the time. I've been having a ton of visits from spambots so I'm trying a change to see if I can nip it in the bud! Regular readers may not even notice a change but basically it eliminates anonymous bloggers. I hate to deter the regular reader who isn't on blogger and wants to post anonymously though! Any suggestions? Blogger takes care of most of it but spam seems to be spreading anyway.

This is really interesting! I didn't know the title of the book had been changed. According to THE GOOGLY OVERLORDS it's old title was 'These Foolish Things'. Which I think may be a line in a Killers song but I doubt that's why she chose it! They probably changed it now so that people would identify it with the film...but I'm not sure I couldn't find anything referencing the title change online.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the book so I'm not sure which one I prefer...I think the new one is probably better considering the target audience of the book! x
You are absolutely correct...sorry I don't have a prize for you, lol! I just started it and am just getting the hang of the rhythm of the book and what appears is going to be a crazy collection of coots and characters. So different from her book Tulip Fever!
